Now that I know this is work that speaks to your heart, I'll smile :)

Another amazing piece. Keep it up!
A pencil is magic in your hands.

Kate, Joan Y nailed it! perfection in all its yummy details. I love the clean simplicity of each piece, yet the details are outstanding. The lemon just about blew me away. How do you get the surface to look so shinny? I could almost swear it was yellow. Happy New year! Keep doing what you are doing and obviously enjoying it.

This is gorgeous work! I'd love to get my hands on one of the Moleskines to see them in person!

Kate...I have been visiting art blogs a lot since participating in Karin Jurick's DSFDF, and I came to yours from Edward Burton's. Your work is exceptional...clean, crisp and extremely talented. You have an admirer in Costa Rica...James

hi kate... its been a long time... and i see some really great work... love the textures that you've captured... :D

hope you had a nice new year... :)

one last thing... how do you maintain such a uniform gradient? i can never get it, unless if it starts from black... plus its always "hatchy"... i know that you need to have a good control over the pencil but if there is anything else besides that please let me know... thanks... :P

Hi Anish, thanks so much. For the gradient areas, try using a lighter pressure and a harder pencil lead (3H or 4H). Or try blending with your finger or a blending stump which you can get at an art supply store.

Maybe I will take a picture of the supplies that I use and post them someday.
